Evidence-Based Addiction and Mental Health Treatment for Adults and Adolescents

Care Options

PHP/HIOP stands for Partial Hospitalization Program or High Intensity Outpatient Treatment.  A PHP is a substance use or mental health treatment program designed to provide the most comprehensive and effective treatment achievable in an outpatient setting.

PHP may be right for you if you have recently completed a residential treatment program and want to continue on your continuum of care, or if you are just entering treatment and don’t require residential treatment, or you cannot be away from your work/family to go to an inpatient program.

Our PHP provides support to patients Monday through Friday for five hours daily.  If you are in PHP you can live independently or in one of our affiliated sober living homes.  Lunch is provided to all sober living patients on days when clinical programming is provided.  Group therapy takes place Monday through Friday from 8am until 2pm.  Additionally you will have access to comprehensive care, medical supervision, weekly visits with nursing, a peer supported environment and weekly individual therapy.

For PHP participants struggling with addiction, our PHP program includes individualized support by a certified peer recovery support specialist, routine drug screening, and opportunities to be introduced to community support options such as AA, Celebrate Recovery or SMART Recovery.  You will also work with our entire treatment team including licensed therapists, nurses, nurse practitioners and our board certified psychiatrist.

For PHP participants struggling with mental health, our treatment addresses a wide range of disorders such as anxiety, bipolar, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and OCD.  Mental health patients will benefit from our board certified psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and clinical programming emphasizing real life coping strategies along with medical interventions.

IOP stands for Intensive Outpatient.  IOPs are a form of intensive treatment that falls between PHP/HIOP and regular outpatient therapy, allowing patients to access intensive therapeutic services without having to stay in a hospital or residential facility. The goal of an intensive outpatient program is to provide intensive individualized treatments that focus on helping people manage their symptoms and live successful lives.

For individuals confronting a mental health concern like depression or anxiety, an IOP is an effective means of getting targeted, consistent treatment. Intensive outpatient treatment is considered a step down from our partial hospitalization program (PHP) and offers support as you progress from inpatient or residential services to living at home or in a sober living residence. As you face mental health triggers or substance use cravings, you will still have clinical support to help you overcome the new challenges in your recovery.

For those struggling with substance use disorder treatment our intensive outpatient treatment program provides therapeutic tools and support required for recovery while allowing participants to continue living at home or in a sober living residence and managing their daily activities.

We offer two different forms of IOP.  In person and virtual.  Our virtual IOP meets through a secure video portal three times per week from 6pm to 9pm.  This program is ideal for working individuals and executives as it provides invaluable group and individual therapy while also working around the structure and demands of business.  Our in person IOP is slightly more intensive, meeting 5 days per week from 9am to noon.

In both programs, participants will engage in group therapy, individual therapy, and have nursing and medical supports available as needed.  Participants in our five day per week in person IOP program may live in our affiliated sober living homes to further help support the journey to recovery.

Individuals with a strong support system and high levels of independence are excellent candidates for outpatient treatment. Patients can continue to manage their day-to-day responsibilities, integrate new coping skills into their daily lives and maintain a strong connection with their support system.

Outpatient treatment can be short-term or long term.  For some, outpatient treatment includes meeting with a therapist every week, seeing a nurse practitioner for medication management or long-term medication support for addiction.  For others it may only be one or two hours of mental health care per month.  Outpatient is truly customized to the individual requiring services.

We provide outpatient services in person in our Laconia, NH clinic.  We also provide services virtually through telemedicine to patients who reside in New Hampshire, but may not be able to make it to Laconia to receive services.

We treat a wide variety of mental health and addiction services through outpatient care.  For patients seeking outpatient care for addiction, we have adopted a harm-reduction model versus a total abstinence model. We want to meet you where you are in your journey.

Whether your need is chemical dependency treatment, long-term MAT, psychiatric medication management, anxiety treatment, depression treatment, family therapy, or stress management, our outpatient counseling center is ready to help you.

You may have heard the term MAT or MOUD in the past.  MAT stands for Medication Assisted Treatment.  It is a term that is becoming less commonly used as we recognize that addiction is an illness and medication is part of treating illness.  MOUD stands for Medications for Opioid Use Disorder.

Whichever term you are familiar with, we are ready to be the provider to help you on your path.
